Rescue
We seldom have Tonkinese cats needing new homes. Occasionally, someone cannot keep their Tonk, or find a home for it. In that case our rescue folks help to find the Tonk a new home. If you are interested in adopting an adult Tonk that needs a home, we'd like to have some information about you, and put you on our list. Then when such a cat needs a home, we will contact you to see if we have a match!
Our national rescue co-ordinator is Sue Robbins at Contact Sue Sue contacts local rescue co-coordinators as appropriate. Contact Sue:
Our goal is that no Tonkinese should end up abandoned or in a shelter.
Carol Mackay Rescue Fund
The Carol Mackay Rescue Fund was created by Tonks West to support expenses related to our Tonkinese Rescue effort, such as vet check-ups and foster care costs incurred before placing the cats. It honors Carol Mackay who, as Tonkinese Rescue coordinator, saved the lives of many cats who ended up in the San Diego Shelters. Along with her husband Ron, she went to shelters and brought them home and fostered them until a home could be found. She placed Tonkinese as well as other cats. A major donor to the fund is the San Diego Cat Fanciers of which she was also a long time member.
